What We Believe
The Bible
Word Of God: We believe in the absolute authority and accuracy of the 66 books of the Bible, its full verbal inspiration in the original manuscripts, and its all sufficiency as the Christians’ rule of faith and practice. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21)
Man: We believe that man was created in the image of God by direct creation, that he sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death; thus, we believe that all men by nature are sinners, and (apart from Christ) shall be forever separated from God. (Gen. 1:27, 3:6; Rom. 3:23, 6:23)
ORDINANCES: We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances left by the Lord to His church.
Baptism: Although baptism by immersion has no saving qualities, we recommend that all believers be baptized because it is the next step following salvation. Baptism is observed once and is a public testimony of identifying oneself with Christ, who died, was buried, and rose again from the dead. It is an outward testimony of what has taken place in the heart. (Acts 8:36-38)
The Lord’s Supper: We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a provision of bread which is symbolic of Christ’s broken body and the cup is symbolic of His shed blood. The Lord’s Supper is partaken in commemoration of the suffering and death of our Lord in anticipation of His soon coming again. Its observance is to be preceded by faithful self-examination. (Luke 22:14-20; I Cor. 11:23-30)
Last Things: We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost, the eternal existence of both in either heaven or hell, in divine judgments, rewards, and punishments. (Matt. 25:31-46)
STATEMENT ON MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY
1. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman according to the gender of their birth in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.
2. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.
The Trinity And The Bible
Trinity: We believe in one God, Creator, and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. (Gen. 1:26; Matt. 28:19; John 10:30)
God The Father: We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity, the He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (John 3:16; James 1:16-17)
God The Son: We believe that Jesus Christ, God the Son, is our Lord and Savior, that He became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. We believe that there was no sin in Him, nor sin done by Him, and the He voluntarily laid down His life on the cross as our substitute, shedding His blood for our sins and thereby purchasing our redemption. We believe that although He died, He rose again the third day and ascended into Heaven. We believe that this same Jesus is the only mediator between God and man, who now intercedes for us at the right hand of God. We believe that He will return to earth again, both personally and visibly. (Col. 1:12-18; John 14:9)
God The Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with the Father and the Son, and of the same substance and nature; that He convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment; that He bears witness to the truth, that He is the agent of the new birth, that at conversion He baptizes the believe in the body of Christ, and that He seals salvation, and empowers the believer for Godly living and service. (John 14:16; Eph. 1:13)
The Core of Salvation
Salvation: We believe in an eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We further believe that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, and was purchased by Christ on the cross, and is received through faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual. We further believe salvation results in righteous living, good works, and proper social concern. (John 1:12, 10:27-29; Eph. 2:8-9)
